Den Leader’s Responsibilities
1) Take the
Fast Start Leader Training
2) Send an email to the Committee Chair, Michael Higgins (
mjh05@comcast.net ) to let
him know when you have completed your training.
3) Attend New Leader Essentials Training and the leader specific
training.
During your training you
will learn:
- How a den meeting is
conducted
- How shared leadership gives
each boy and adult partner an opportunity to lead
- How and when dens meet
- How you and your den fit
into the Cub Scout pack
- What Cub Scouting literature
is used in planning
4) Run your monthly den meeting
- Each parent is responsible
for planning at least one of your den’s meetings for the year
- Let the parents know the
theme for each month and have them sign up for the month that
they would like to host.
- Give them the den’s copy of
the Program Helps the month before they host the den meeting
to assist them in planning the meeting.
5) Plan your Go-See-It (Tigers)
or Field Trip
6) Attend the monthly Committee Meeting (1st Tuesday of every
month at Gallardo)

Assistant Den Leader’s
Responsibilities
Similar to the team parent for soccer, baseball, basketball,
etc.
1) Take the
Fast Start Leader Training

him know when you have completed your training.
3) Attend New Leader Essentials Training and the leader specific
training.
During your training you
will learn:
- How a den meeting is
conducted
- How shared leadership gives
each boy and adult partner an opportunity to lead
- How and when dens meet
- How you and your den fit
into the Cub Scout pack
- What Cub Scouting literature
is used in planning
4) Attend the monthly Committee
Meeting when your leader is unable to attend.
5) The Committee Chair will let all of the Asst. Den Leaders know
what he/she might need for the next pack function. Asst. Den
Leader will then volunteer or get a volunteer within their den to
get items that are required at the next pack function. The pack
will reimburse all costs incurred for the items at the pack
meeting, so there is no out of pocket cost to the Asst. Den Leader
or any other volunteer.
6) For special events, like the Blue & Gold dinner and the
Pinewood Derby, the Asst. Den Leader would be responsible for
getting at least one parent from their den to volunteer to help
with the setup and/or cleanup at the Blue & Gold dinner or to help
serve and clean up the Raceway Café during the Pinewood Derby.
7) Keep track of all of the boys’ achievements and electives using
the tracking chart.
8) Any additional duties that the den leader might feel that the
Asst. Den Leader could help them out with.
8) Collecting the money and order forms for popcorn. Picking up
popcorn from the Popcorn Kernel and distributing it to the boys in
your den. |
