  8. Pampanito Priority- Blaine will look into scheduling more than one trip a year. It is decided to book the Pampanito every year so that everyone has a chance to go. Webelos will have priority, followed by rank. There is a ranking for choice. Webelos get first choice if they have never gone. The only way it would be different would be if a Webelo who has already gone was going with a younger brother who has not gone. Then the option goes down the rank. We need to stick to the rules. We can only take 48 boys.

  9. Ernie’s- Wednesday January 21- 5-7pm Pack needs to sell 250 tickets for $10 each, tickets will be sold at the upcoming pack and den meetings.

Cub Scout- pack 134- Meeting Minutes

October 7, 2008

Attendees: Trina Solak, Blaine Nickens, Abbie Harris, David Dowty, Rocky Paizis, Gene Chutka, Chris Ceccarelli, Mark Nelson, Michele Piazzoni, Paul Sterk, Rene’ Ford, Cathy Reiss and Steve Schmeising

  1. Abby called meeting to order at 6:50pm

  2. Pack website- maintained by Paul Sterk – expressed concerns about sharing photos online- Coppermine is the management software for photo management and email filtering that we currently own. Paul is willing to be the webmaster-It was decided that all pictures should be filtered through Paul, and we request that pictures are no larger than 72 Dpi per photo.

-It would be nice if each den leader had a central email address

  1. Approve Minutes from the September 9, 2008 Meeting. David Dowty made a motion, Bruce Azzarito seconded- motion passes.

  2. Treasurer’s Report- John Thormodsgard not available for treasurer’s report, but the spreadsheet was looked over.

  3. Tiger Dens- We currently have 11 dens with den sizes ranging from 5-12. Approximate count is 100 scouts

  4. October Pack Meeting- October 28th 7pm. Set up- is assigned to Mark Nelson (den 8), Opening will be CR and Trina (den 11), Prayer will be Steve (den 12), and Clean up- Rocky (den 5)

Scout volunteers-we will use only if needed. We need 2 parent volunteers from each den. We also need 2 dozen cookies per den for the cookie walk.

  1. Awards – We will not present them to the children, but we will give them to the den leaders so that they can pass them on to their scouts. The October meeting is too hectic to add presentations to it. David Dowty will bring a $200 check for the scout store to buy awards.

  2. Ernie’s- They do one fundraiser a month – special night- your group is required to sell 250 tickets for $10 each, and the restaurant is open for your group only. We get a hamburger meal- Ernie’s takes $500 and we get to pocket the $2000 profit. – We will try to book it for the 3rd or 4th Wednesday in January and we can sell the tickets at the next 2 pack meetings- first come, first serve.

  3. Uniforms- Do we want to change it to include blue pants- Abby proposed that boys must wear blue pants appropriate to show respect for the uniform.

-Mark Nelson recommended from the waist up only, especially since boys grow so much during these years. Blue jeans, blue pants/shorts (or khaki for the Webelos). It needs be something that is appropriate with the uniform (Appropriate colored shoes and pants that represent class A attire.) We voted and passed an appropriate dress requirement.

- New color patches for the Webelos- we will not purchase new patches at this time.

- T-shirt designs- Gene has not placed the order yet (he is waiting for the current roster), but has found some great designs

  1. USS Pampanito - 76 people that want to go, with a 46 person capacity. We can take all the Webelos and half of the bears. We will let the older children go (age preference) and siblings will have priority. If you have already attended, you should not have priority. There are no additional dates available around that time. Blaine will look to see if there is another date between February and April. We will look into it again at the next meeting. At this time it is undecided how to decide who may attend.

  2. November Pack Meeting – Chris Ceccarelli will have the Eagles from troop 94 come and talk to the scouts, as well as have adults talk to the boys in smaller groups about how scouting has improved their lives.

  3. Reminder- Friends of Folsom Parkways Humbug-Willow Creek Trail maintenance- Saturday November 15, 2008 from 9-12am – they need volunteers to help plant trees and do general clean-up.

The Friends of Folsom Parkway are currently doing a nature series that might be something for the troops to attend. Information about this will be on the pack website.
